Temperature drops and weather changes have already been announced for this week. Such changes usually bring along colds, especially in case of low immunity. We have thought we could help you by offering some simple variants to prevent (or treat) the season cold with only 3 ingredients: lemon, honey and ginger.
Probably you already know a lot about lemon, its antioxidant characteristics and rich content in vitamin C and about honey, a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent. Together they are already part of the “anti-cold” kit from generation to generation. What you have not added before is the ginger.
The ginger is a spice coming from India, grown and used especially in the tropical and subtropical areas. Its curative properties are long-time recognised and used in medicine in many disorders or preventively. It contains A, C, E vitamins, B vitamin complex, sodium, magnesium, zinc, phosphor, iron and calcium, potassium, silicon and manganese.
The ginger is beneficial in stimulating immunity, it helps digestion, it is a strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent – it soothes headaches, muscle and joint pains, reduces blood pressure and nausea, it is one of the most renowned anti-cancer ingredients.
In winter it stimulates blood circulation and “warms us” and together with honey and lemon it is the remedy against the season cold and flues.
How can you consume them?
In lemonade – To the classical honey lemonade add as well a teaspoon of grated ginger. Another option is to heat the lemonade water, lemon and ginger up to the boiling point. Then add fresh lemon and honey.
In tea – Heat the water up to the boiling point, cut a few slices of ginger (2 slices for a mug), let them boil on low heat for 10 minutes. Add lemon and honey as you feel like.
You can prepare a mixture for the whole week or family: a lemon cut in small cubes and fresh ginger finely grated are placed in a jar and add honey. The mixture is added in the hot water.
We wish you to be one step ahead of colds and be healthy!
